Join us on Sunday 7 January 2018 at 10:15 am at the Akrotiri Environmental Education Centre in Limassol for a different day in nature! What will we do? A creative mapping workshop and picnic*!

Forget maps as you know them! The workshop begins with a short presentation of the creative mapping methods and presents some examples. Following this introduction to creative mapping, you will have the opportunity to explore nature around you, activating your senses to create your own creative map based on your experience! What shape will your map take? Will it be three-dimensional, will it capture textures, will it be in video form? The possibilities are endless…

Once you finish your map, you can submit it to take part in the ‘Wild for nature’ competition (for teenagers and young people aged 15-25), for your opportunity to win prizes worth over 1500 euros and to take part in a competition with the winning and most interesting submissions! Don’t worry if you don’t complete your map at the workshop – you can perfect it before you submit it to us (the submission deadline is 26/1/18). You can register to take part at the workshop individually or as a group. Once we finish our mapping we will have a picnic to enjoy the beautiful landscape of the area!

What do you know about the area? The Akrotiri Peninsula is one of the most important areas for birds in Cyprus. Here you can find the largest natural wetland complex on the island. Globally important numbers of Flamingos congregate here, and with some luck we will be able to enjoy them through the binoculars of the Akrotiri Environmental Education Centre.

Have you been waiting for the perfect opportunity to explore nature? Here it is! We can’t wait to see nature through your eyes and your other senses! All the information on the competition is available here:wildfornature.birdlifecyprus.org
