BirdLife Cyprus is looking for highly competent, experienced and hard-working fieldworkers to visit the island as full-time volunteer bird surveyors, to help with the monitoring of breeding bird species and Atlas survey work. Only one or two volunteers will be accepted for 2017, so early application is advised.

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Martin Hellicar, our longest-serving employee, as the new BirdLife Cyprus Director, following the departure through mutual agreement of Dr. Clairie Papazoglou from her role as Director, on 1 November 2016. We would like to thank Clairie for all her efforts in bringing BirdLife Cyprus to where it is today and wish her all the best for the future.

BirdLife Cyprus invites you to the opening of the Drawing and Photography Exhibition of the ‘153 birds’ campaign! The starting point of the ‘153 birds’ campaign and the drawing competition was a successful event organised on Sunday 17 April 2016 at the Famagusta Gate Moat. On that day, more than 200 people of all ages joined this special event to listen to fairy tales and songs about birds and to draw pictures of birds. Within the two months that followed, we received more than 300 praiseworthy and creative art works from children, teens and adults.

Home at last! After more than a decade in the UK, I am delighted to have returned to my homeland and joined the ranks of BirdLife Cyprus. Having studied Zoology at university, I had my first taste of working with BirdLife Cyprus doing my Master’s project on the Cyprus Scops Owl, and then continued to pursue my PhD on the ecology and conservation of the farmland birds of Cyprus.

We are happy to announce the arrival of the new BirdLife Cyprus 2017 calendar which showcases pictures of the birds and habitats of Akamas. This is one of the larger, distinctive and key sites for bird conservation in Cyprus.

We received over 300 drawings and the difficult task of selecting the winners was undertaken by a committee comprised of BirdLife Cyprus staff and members of its Council, who chose the following:
