BirdLife Cyprus is organizing an interactive educational workshop for children ages 5-12, as part of its ‘153 birds’ campaign. The workshop will take place on Saturday, 17 December 2016, 10:00 – 11:30, at Myloi Cultural Centre in Kaimakli, Nicosia.

BirdLife Cyprus, in conjunction with the SBA Environmental Department recently organised two events to clear some of the reeds at Zakaki Marsh, at Akrotiri, Limassol. Zakaki Marsh is part of the Akrotiri wetland complex, the largest natural wetland complex of the island. It is one of the few breeding sites island wide for the Ferruginous duck - a species of global conservation concern.

BirdLife Cyprus invites you to the opening of the Drawing and Photography Exhibition of the ‘153 birds’ campaign! The starting point of the ‘153 birds’ campaign and the drawing competition was a successful event organised on Sunday 17 April 2016 at the Famagusta Gate Moat. On that day, more than 200 people of all ages joined this special event to listen to fairy tales and songs about birds and to draw pictures of birds. Within the two months that followed, we received more than 300 praiseworthy and creative art works from children, teens and adults.

At this point of the year, millions of migratory birds are leaving Europe flying to their wintering places in Africa. Cyprus is on one of the main migratory flyways in Europe and so every autumn and spring hundreds of thousands of birds pass through our island: from colourful Bee-eaters as they call and swirl through the air hunting for insects to imposing migrating raptors, such as the Red-footed Falcon and the Pallid Harrier, species of global conservation concern. BirdLife Cyprus invites people to take the opportunity to discover the fascinating world of bird migration on 2 October 2016.
