Following the recent records of Common Myna (Acridotheres tristis) in Cyprus, an invasive bird species, BirdLife Cyprus invites you to an event on the topic of invasive alien species on Thursday, 9 February 2023, 18:00-20:00.
Invasive alien species are plants or animals that are introduced accidentally or deliberately into a natural environment, where they are not normally found. They present a major threat to native plants and animals in Europe and worldwide, causing damage worth billions of Euros to the European economy every year.

18:20 – 18:40 ‘National Invasive Alien Species List’, Konstantinos Charalambous, Department of Forests
18:40 – 19:00 ‘Feral dogs, cats and livestock: impact on wildlife’, Nikos Kassinis, Game and Fauna Service
19:00 – 19:20 ‘Common Myna – its impacts as an invasive species’, Chris Feare – Myna research and management expert in the UK
The event will close with a short reception.
