Due to ongoing concerns around foot-and-mouth disease, access to certain areas, including popular birding sites such as Akrotiri Marsh, and potentially other locations near livestock (e.g. Achna, Agia Varvara, and similar areas), may be temporarily restricted or closed. These measures, if implemented, are to protect livestock and prevent further spread of the disease. We kindly ask all birdwatchers and visitors to: Respect any access restrictions or temporary closures / Follow all instructions from authorities Avoid entering areas near livestock where access is limited / Act responsibly and consider the wider community. We understand how important these sites are for birding, especially as bird migration will be reaching its peak, but cooperation is essential. Ignoring restrictions can cause serious consequences and may lead to longer-term closures.
