We have extended our ‘Wild for nature’ competition deadline to 30 March 2018 and we are planning more creative mapping workshops in nature! Mark your calendars!

Join us at one or all of our creative mapping workshops and let nature be your inspiration board! Spend a different day in nature, learn about the natural world and its wonders, try something new and recharge your batteries!

If you are as excited as we are, then mark your calendars for our upcoming workshops:

  • Sunday, 11 February 2018, Larnaka Salt Lakes, 10:00 am. Accepting registrations until 8 February*
  • Sunday, 25 February 2018, Mahairas Forest Picnic Site (Mandra tou Kambiou) 10:00 am. Accepting registrations until 22 February*

Both workshops are taking place within the framework of our ‘Wild for nature’ creative mapping competition for teenagers and young people aged 15-25, which was launched in late autumn and is now extended to 30 March 2018.

Since the competition launch in November 2017, we spent two beautiful days out in nature at our creative mapping workshops where together we explored the areas of Cape Greco and Akrotiri Peninsula and participants started their own maps based on their experience in nature and what inspired them.

Should this not be enough to get you outside, you should know that by submitting your creative map you are competing to win one of many meaningful and attractive prizes, worth over 1500 Euro. The prizes for the lucky winners are professional binoculars, gift vouchers by CYTA, Mona’s Art, AWOL, copies of some of the excellent publications on nature by the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation and a Buff® multi-functional headwear by Get Out. And that’s not all: the artworks by the winners as well as other interesting submissions will be presented in an exhibition, allowing more people to enjoy and admire the creative maps of these important natural areas.

If you are a teacher of 15-25 year olds, you may be interested to know that we would be happy to organise a field trip with your students within the competition framework!

To register for the workshops or ask any questions about the competition, please contact us: 22455072 or natalie.stylianou@birdlifecyprus.org.cy

*Participation is free but is on a first come first served basis, due to a limited number of places. Registration is obligatory. Priority will be given to participants aged 15-25. Participants must follow a code of practice which promotes respect towards nature in order to not cause any disturbance in the areas the workshops are held.
