The Tamasos and Orinis Bishopric invited BirdLife Cyprus to take part in the summer camps it organises for children. BirdLife Cyprus happily accepted the invitation and gave presentations to children aged 7 to 14, every week throughout July, at Kampos Tsakistras where the summer camps took place.

Every week a large group of smiling children welcomed BirdLife Cyprus officers at the camp. The children watched with great interest the presentation and educational animation with Ulysses the Blackcap and they participated with various questions and comments. Then they played the BirdLife Cyprus’ boardgame, through which they learnt about the many threats that birds face, such as the serious and persistent problem of illegal bird trapping in Cyprus. While playing the game the children assume the role of birds on the migration journey in spring or autumn, and try to reach their destination despite the difficulties they find on the way.

The visits of BirdLife Cyprus concluded with a nice surprise, since on the return journey towards the BirdLife Cyprus offices after the last presentation, two Mouflons “bid farewell” the BirdLife Cyprus officers from this beautiful area
