Key information: The melodious Nightingale is more often heard than seen. It is usually found in thick vegetation and dense shrubbery and trees or on the ground, when it is looking for food. Although somewhat dull-looking, the Nightingale is famous for its melodious and variable song, which is often heard at night. It arrives in Cyprus at the beginning of April to nest.

Length: 15 – 16,5 cm

Habitat: Mountains and forests, scrub and bushes

When they can be seen: Spring, summer, autumn

What they eat: Invertebrates

In Cyprus: Can be seen in forested areas such as Troodos, Paphos and Machairas Forests

Status: Migrant breeder, passage migrant
