Key information: The Common Redshank is a brown wader with bright red legs. It passes through Cyprus during migration and is mostly seen here during the spring months. It can be quite noisy, especially when alarmed. It can be found at coastal wetlands as well as other coastal areas, such as rocky or muddy shorelines. It can be seen foraging in mixed flocks together with other wader species.

Length: 24 – 27 cm

Habitat: Wetlands

When they can be seen: Autumn, winter, spring

What they eat: Invertebrates, fish and other aquatic organisms

In Cyprus: Can be seen at wetlands such as Larnaka Salt Lakes, Akrotiri Marsh and Oroklini Lake

Status: Winter visitor, passage migrant
