A big and warm thank you to everyone who took part in the ‘153 birds’ drawing competition and congratulations to the lucky winners! We received over 300 drawings and the difficult task of selecting the winners was undertaken by a committee comprised of BirdLife Cyprus staff and members of its Council, who chose the following:

Children/Teens category (up to 17 years old):
1st prize: Constantinos Djakouris with his artwork depicting the Cyprus Warbler
2nd prize: Christiana Mouxouri with her artwork depicting the Eurasian Hoopoe
3rd prize: Maria Moustaka with her artwork depicting the Bearded Reedling

Adults category (18+ years old):
1st prize: Loucia Serghiou with her artwork depicting the Cyprus Scops Owl
2nd prize: Kypros Georgiou with his artwork depicting the Cyprus Coal Tit
3rd prize: Eliza Pitri with her artwork depicting the White Wagtail

People’s Choice category:
Demetra Kyprianou with the artwork depicting the Common Kingfisher – with 1500+ likes in the children/teens submissions
Kypros Georgiou with the artwork depicting the Cyprus Coal Tit – with 69 likes in the adult submissions

The lucky winners will be awarded their prizes at the exhibition opening. The exhibition opening, originally planned to take place on Friday 14 October 2016, is unfortunately postponed. The new dates will be announced as soon as possible.

It has been particularly rewarding and encouraging to witness the enthusiasm and love of young and old when they discovered with us the rich avifauna of Cyprus and the wonder of migration. We hope you will join us in celebrating the magical world of birds and these beautiful artworks!
