The issue of lead poisoning of Flamingos at our key wetlands has been making headlines, including internationally. Our Director, Martin Hellicar, was recently interviewed on the issue on Euronews.

BirdLife Cyprus is calling for Soros lake hunting area to be closed unless (or until) the authorities can guarantee two things:

1. No more poaching (the area around Soros lake is a known black-spot for illegal bird killing).

2. Strict implementation of ban on use of lead shot.
