Key information: The Great Cormorant visits Cyprus mainly in the winter, but it can also be seen during autumn and spring migration. It hunts for fish by diving in shallow water. When on land, it is often spotted standing on rocks or branches with its wings spread open to dry. Note white patch on throat.
Length: 77 – 94 cm
Habitat: Wetlands, coastal areas

What they eat: Fish and other aquatic organisms
In Cyprus: Can be seen at natural wetlands and dams, but also along the coast during migration
Status: Winter visitor, passage migrant
