Key information: In the summer, the male Greenfinch is a bright-coloured bird with green, grey and yellow plumage. The female has more grey than the male. In the winter, it can often be seen in flocks with Goldfinches and Chaffinches. It has a very characteristic undulating flight. It breeds on trees (usually cypress trees) all over the island, even in Troodos mountains.

Length: 14 – 16 cm

Habitat: Mountains and forests, towns and villages, farmland, scrub and bushes

When they can be seen: All year round

What they eat: Seeds, invertebrates

In Cyprus: Can be seen all over Cyprus

Status: Resident breeder
