This year’s raptor migration count is underway since 27 August 2016 and will be wrapping up on 9 October 2016. As with previous years the sites covered are Akrotiri, Cape Greco and Paphos Plain with our volunteers providing an excellent coverage of the sites that enabled us to gather a lot of data for subsequent analysis.

Even though the count is not over yet, a sample from the surveys conducted so far shows thousands of individual raptors passing through Cyprus with the list exceeding 17 species. The most common species appears to be once again the Honey Buzzard (pictured) with some notable instances having more than 600 individuals recorded in a single day.

A great thank you goes out to all our volunteers for their great work.
