Bird migration is among the wonders of the natural world. This time of year, thousands of migratory birds leave Europe to travel towards Africa, where they will spend the winter. Many of them are currently passing through Cyprus.

Join BirdLife Cyprus on Saturday 6 October at the Athalassa National Forest Park at 9:30am to discover the magical migration journey and the beauty of wild birds through birdwatching, drawing activities and a birdbath making workshop. Find us at the birdwatching hide and the tables next to the south parking area (Latsia entrance).

Bird migration is one of the greatest mysteries of the animal kingdom. Now is the time when autumn migration is in full swing, making it the ideal opportunity to go out and get to know the magical world of birds. But why do birds migrate? How do they find their way? How long does it take them to complete the journey? These and many other questions are answered in BirdLife Cyprus’ new publication ‘What journey is this?’ a drawing and craft book to accompany the birdwatching guide ‘What’s that bird?’, which will be given to event participants.

This event is taking place as part of the 25th EuroBirdwatch, where 38 national partners of BirdLife International in Europe and Central Asia organize events on the weekend of 6 and 7 October and invite the public to observe birds and learn interesting facts about bird migration and the threats they face on their journey. In Cyprus, in addition to the event at the Athalassa National Forest Park on Saturday 6 October at 9:30am, two further field trips will take place in other districts to watch and count birds, on Sunday 7 October at 9am at the following locations:
